COVID-19 in the health sector: A guide to reopening and recovery

For Canada to reopen and effectively manage the pandemic, several elements must be carefully assessed

COVID-19 remains a serious threat to the health of Canadians. Public health bodies across Canada have been charged with the task of flattening the curve of new coronavirus cases and monitoring for signs of a second wave of infection. As the current wave continues to subside, governments, employers, and citizens must align their efforts and adopt a collaborative, phased approach to reopening activity.

In our report COVID-19 in the health sector: A guide to reopening and recovery, we outline the four critical initiatives that will determine how Canada recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic as we seek to reopen. These are to:

  1. Increase testing
  2. Scale contact tracing
  3. Mass-produce vaccinations
  4. Ensure insightful reporting

We propose an approach and solution to each of these to effectively manage our recovery from the pandemic through the reopening phases.
