Aligning resources to mandate through integrated process, planning, and technology

National Defence—it’s the Government of Canada’s largest department, with the budget to match. But the current resource planning, processes, and technology are holding department leaders back from making effective strategic decisions. In our latest article, (Re)investing in defence: Aligning resources to mandate through integrated process, planning, and technology, we put forward three resource processes that could support the accountabilities and responsibilities of the accounting officer/Deputy Minister role:

  1. Integrated business planning and resource management
  2. Resource mandate review process 
  3. New initiatives planning 

Through these shifts, the Deputy Minister of National Defence will be well positioned to ensure the department has the resourcing needed for to fulfill its vital mandate for Canada.
