Dennis Chow
Chairman, Deloitte China

Dennis is the Chairman of Deloitte China. With a career of more than 33 years at Deloitte, he is also the lead client service partner for several blue-chip companies, overseeing all Deloitte’s services to these key clients. Prior to his current role, he was a member of the Deloitte China executive management team responsible for Deloitte's offices across the Greater Bay Area (Hong Kong, Macao, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou).

Over the years, Dennis has provided audit and advisory services to some of our largest clients. He has assisted many entities in their initial public offerings, raising funds in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, the United States and the United Kingdom. He is also involved in due diligence investigations and corporate finance advisory work.

In addition, Dennis was Chairman of Deloitte's Global Chinese Services Group, a network of 1,000+ professionals across more than 130 countries dedicated to serving Chinese clients overseas, especially in the One Belt One Road countries. He also represented Deloitte China on several Deloitte Global committees and was previously a Governing Board Member.

A father of two daughters, Dennis is a leading advocate of Deloitte China's 4+1 Culture of Courage, Innovation, Inclusion, Wellbeing + Integrity. He actively supports the promotion of female talent to leadership positions within the Firm, and is deeply involved in inclusion initiatives including Deloitte's women mentorship program with HSBC and Walmart. Under Dennis's leadership, the Deloitte office in Hong Kong office won the Amcham Women of Influence award in 2018.

Derrick Tan
Chief Executive, Hong Kong Branch
Global Market Head, Greater China and North Asia

Derrick Tan is Chief Executive, Hong Kong Branch and Global Market Head, Greater China and North Asia for Bank of Singapore.

As the Global Market Head, he is responsible for driving growth in Greater China and North Asia, as well as for expanding Bank of Singapore’s presence through collaborative partners OCBC Wing Hang Bank, OCBC Wing Hang China and Bank of Ningbo in Greater China.

Derrick, who has close to 20 years of banking experience, joined Bank of Singapore in 2010 and rose through the ranks to become the Global Market Head for Malaysia, Brunei, Japan, Sub-Continent and Middle East in 2015. He was instrumental in establishing the Bank’s market-leading position in the Middle East region, which culminated in the setting up of the bank’s branch in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) in February 2017.

Before joining Bank of Singapore, he held positions in UBS AG where he was the Executive Director and Desk Head of the Indonesia market from 2006 to 2010. Prior to that, he was responsible for HSBC’s offshore International Banking Centre.

Derrick holds a degree in Banking and Finance from Curtin University of Technology. He also graduated from the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Programme in 2013.

Professor Tam Kar Yan
Dean, HKUST Business School

Professor Tam Kar Yan, Dean of HKUST Business School and Chair Professor of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management (ISOM), has been with the University since 1992. He received his PhD from Purdue University and started off his academic career at the University of Texas, Austin. He joined HKUST in 1992 as a founding member of the Business School. He was the Associate Dean of the Business School from 1999 to 2006. From 2005 to 2007, he was on secondment to the Office of Vice-President for Academic Affairs as Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs (AVPAA). From 2007 to 2016, he was the Associate Provost and Dean of Students.

Professor Tam is well experienced in the work of undergraduate education. As AVPAA, he has been involved in the development of academic development plan as well as in the 3-3-4 conversion planning. In his capacity as the Associate Dean of the Business School from 1999 to 2006, he was responsible for all undergraduate programs in the School. He launched the highly successful Global Business Program in 2000 and had been the Director of the Program through 2006. He was also the Co-director of the dual-degree program in Technology Management from 2002 to 2007. As Director of International and Mainland Students and Programs Office, he has been leading the University’s internationalization efforts to recruit top students from the Mainland and overseas.

Professor Tam is committed to public and professor services. He is the President of the Association of the Asia Pacific Business Schools - an academic alliance serving over 140 member organizations. He is also appointed to a number of education and other policy groups, including the Curriculum Development Council (Chairman), the Research Grants Council, the Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board, and the Hong Kong Productivity Council.

As a researcher, Professor Tam’s interests lie in electronic commerce and big data. He is currently serving on the editorial board of a number of IS journals. He has also served as a consultant to a number of corporations and government offices.

Liu Xiao
Vice President of SEEC Group, Vice President of Caijing Magazine, General Manager of Harvard Business Review China

Ms. Liu Xiao joined SEEC Group in 1992. She is currently the Vice President of SEEC Group, the Vice President of Caijing Magazine, and the General Manager of Harvard Business Review China.

Ms. Liu Xiao graduated from Economy and Trade Department of RENMIN University of China with a bachelor’s degree of economics in 1990. In 1992, she joined SEEC Group, co-founded Capital Weekly.  Capital Weekly, as the only one designated publication of China Securities Regulatory Commission(CSRC) to disclose information of listed companies, is the earliest and the most authoritative securities magazine in China, and was awarded as one of the World Top Ten Financial Medias by American Journal Association. Ms. Liu Xiao received her MBA degree from Guanghua School of Management of Peking University in 1998. And in the same year, she was involved in co-founding Caijing Magazine. In 2009, she took the duty of being the Deputy General Manager of Caijing Magazine, and then in the August of 2010, Ms. Liu Xiao became the General Manager of Caijing Magazine.

It has been 20 years since Caijing Magazine was first established. With the participation in, the promotion to and the witness of the golden years of China’s reform and opening-up, Caijing Magazine nowadays is recognized as the most influential financial and business news magazine in China. It has been a must-read magazine of political scientist, business managers, decision makers and academic researchers in China, and has profound and extensive influence within and beyond China.

Harvard Business Review was founded in 1922, and it is recognized as the Bible of management. In July 2012, Harvard Business Review China was launched in China by SEEC Group, and Ms. Liu Xiao is the General Manager. The new Chinese version of Harvard Business Review is dedicated to provide world-class reference standard for the domestic business managements, to promote the internationalization of business management practice and research in China. After 6 years’ hard work, Harvard Business Review China has become the most influential integrated media platform in China, equipped with business management magazine and website, mobile new media, forum activities and video services.

Ms. Liu Xiao took up the post of Vice President of the SEEC Group, which is a mainstream media operator in China with diverse influence and professional authority. SEEC Group owns 15 publications and one website, including Caijing Magazine, Harvard Business Review China, Caijing.com.cn, etc.  All these publications and website provide in-depth news on finance, fashion, business management, lifestyle for the most influential people and decision-making power.

In November 2017, Ms. Liu Xiao became the Vice President of Caijing Magazine.

Lin Hui
Executive chairperson of Federation of Shenzhen Commerce

Lin Hui, female, borne in December 1963, member of Chinese Communist Party. She holds the doctoral degree and the titles of senior economist, senior consultant and administration engineer. She had been elected to deputy to the 11th and 12th National People’s Congress of Guangdong Province, member of standing committee of NPC of Shenzhen Municipality, expert in Decision Advisory Committee of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, executive chairperson of Federation of Shenzhen Commerce, legal person and chairperson of Shenzhen General Chamber of Commerce (SGCC) as well as the executive chairperson of Shenzhen SME Public Service Alliance.

Lin has demonstrated excellent capability in managing social organizations. Over the past 17 years of working in social organizations, she has been upholding the socialist theory with Chinese characteristics and explored a sustainable path for the development of general chamber of commerce through forward-looking vision, personal charm and courage of undertaking responsibility. Her works have been highly recognized by government leaders at all levels as well as SGCC’s member units. In addition, she was rewarded with many honorable titles, including “Women Pacesetter of China’s Commercial and Service Industries”, “Female Entrepreneur of Guangdong Province”, “Outstanding Member of Chinese Communist Party”, “Woman Pacesetter of Guangdong Province”. Under her leadership, the Shenzhen General Chamber of Commerce has also won many titles, such as Class 5A Chamber of Commerce of Shenzhen Municipality, “Advanced Social Organization by the Ministry of Civil Affairs”, “Top Ten Social Organizations with Excellent Contribution to Shenzhen”. It also the only chamber of commerce in Shenzhen honored with the “Best Chamber of Commerce Award in Guangdong Annual Economic Award”.
