Joe has more than 30 years of experience in Deloitte & Touche LLP’s Audit & Assurance practice serving insurance and reinsurance clients. He is Deloitte’s national sector leader for insurance, leading our full portfolio of audit, assurance, and consulting services provided to our insurance clients. Prior to the national sector leader role, he served as our national insurance audit sector leader since 2018. His clients have included life and Property and Casualty (P&C) public, mutual, captive insurers, reinsurers, and insurance brokers and broker-dealers.
Joe has an extensive record of serving many of our largest industry clients as lead client service partner or relationship partner. His extensive insurance experience has led to him serving as relationship partner for numerous prominent clients. In this role, he works closely with client leaders to confirm quality service and bring appropriate resources and specialists to clients.
Joe has extensive experience in US GAAP, SEC, IFRS, and US statutory accounting and regulations. He has assisted his clients with mergers and acquisitions, post-merger integrations, initial public offerings, compliance services, and accounting and control consultations. From 2006 to 2009, Joe served as the Swiss Insurance Practice leader while based in Zurich.
Joe’s service approach is to immerse himself in his clients and fully understand their expectations, business strategy, and related accounting and reporting matters. He understands that clients want an advisor who is engaged and deeply focused on their business. Joe has strong and effective issue management and resolution skills based on the early identification of issues, including the consequences of pending pronouncements and regulations. Using candid, meaningful, in-person, and frequent communication as a foundation, he has built trusted relationships with all levels of management and with audit committees. These same communication skills are also important when leading large engagement teams locally and around the world.
